Aids to Navigation are devices or systems, external to a vessel, which assist mariners in determining position and course, dangers or obstructions, and/or the location of the best or preferred route.
Sheil Communications conducted an environmental scan of new aids to navigation technologies that could efficiently replace traditional aids, including an assessment of the benefits and/or drawbacks to using any such technologies. We were also tasked with researching and assessing the use of new Aids to Navigation technologies by mariners, governments, and international organizations in order to determine any worldwide trends.
